Basic Applesauce recipe – below
2/3 cup frozen blueberries
¼ cup sugar (optional)
Prepare Basic Applesauce recipe per directions, but add berries with apples.
Substitution: 2/3 cup frozen raspberries or strawberries instead of blueberries to make Pink Applesauce
Basic Applesauce Recipe
1 1/2 pound apples, cored and cut into one inch chuncks
1/2 cup water
1 tbsp lemon juice
In a medium saucepan add apples, water and lemon juice. Cook covered on medium heat for 10 – 15 minutes until apples are soft and water is evaporated. Take pan off burner and let cool. When cool, blend in a food processor or blender until it reaches the consistency you prefer. Cool completely and store in a sealed plastic contained for up to one week.
